The 1/72 Airfix Avro Lancaster B.III (Special) 'The Dambusters' kit portrays one of the most daring and iconic missions of the Second World War—Operation Chastise. This version of the Lancaster was specially modified to carry the unique “bouncing bomb” developed by Barnes Wallis, designed to strike German dams with precision in May 1943.
Airfix’s kit includes all the distinctive modifications made to the Dambusters Lancasters, such as the exposed rotating bomb and the removal of the mid-upper turret. Detailed internal components include a fully realised cockpit, bomb bay, and crew stations, while the exterior features fine panel lines and accurate control surfaces. Multiple crew figures and a choice of markings are provided, allowing the modeller to recreate one of several aircraft involved in the famous raid. With its historical importance and unique technical features, this model offers both a challenging and rewarding build.
