Famed for being the baker who stuffed her pies with the flesh of Sweeney Todd?s victims, Margery Lovett has long been in the demon barber of Fleet Street?s diabolical shadow. But what led a woman who began life as a hard-working butcher?s daughter to such distasteful crimes? Famed for being the baker who stuffed her pies with the flesh of Sweeney Todd?s victims, the notorious Mrs Lovett has long been in the diabolical shadow of Fleet Street?s murderous barber. But what could lead a woman who began life as a hard-working butcher?s daughter to such distasteful crimes? When young Margaret Evans?s skill with the knife and saw brings her to the attention of a well-to-do doctor in early Victorian London, she is whisked from the offal-streaked streets of Whitechapel and installed in his Highgate home as a maid and sometime medical assistant. And thus begins a hellish journey straight out of the penny dreadfuls of the day ? one in which Margaret must employ all her wit and resourcefulness to avoid the clutches of crazed anatomists, sinister child-snatchers and the seemingly all-seeing gentlemen freemasons who seek to take away her liberty. Nobody can keep an East End butcher?s daughter down though. When, by nefarious means, she takes ownership of a little Fleet Street pie shop, and discovers the sinister barber who plies his trade upstairs takes the name of his cutthroat razor a little too literally, Margaret finds a way to turn the situation to her advantage. But with so many of the gentlemen who?ve come to Todd?s parlour in search of a shave disappearing without trace, how long can she keep herself from suffering the same deadly fate?

Does a good job, but too much philosophy.
Format: Kindle
I'm about halfway through this book. I have a condition that makes it hard to read. This book does a good job of teaching SQLite but spends too much time stressing the importance of comments and style. I agree, that these things are important, however, not to the audience of the book. The reader would have been better served by getting into the grit of SQL syntax and which keywords to use when versus ensuring that every query had a comment block with name, date, and description. Moreover, requiring every reader to download a prewritten database to work from and special utilities to follow along takes away from the learning experience. That said, you will learn the basics about SQLite, and by the end of the book be able to handle most problems you'll encounter when developing an application.

Great book!
The free promotional items the company gives you just for buying this product alone make it worth the five stars I have given it, and the product itself is amazing. I should start by noting that I received this product about 5 days ago and I am currently halfway done with it. This is not a book that teaches you the very basics of computer programming and assumes that you already have a basic grasp of the fundamentals such as arrays which you definitely should if you are even the slightest bit interested in learning SQL. The book begins by teaching you about what the program is, how it is becoming a valued skill in the world, and why it is a better programming language than others. It makes a language that most people consider highly advanced and more and more difficult the more you use it very easy to grasp in a way that could potentially change your entire career. I am not a computer science expert myself and have only a basic understanding of programming language, mostly java, but I was able to read this book and understand almost all of it without a problem. My computer science friends are even surprised by how much I was able to learn about this programming language that they consider impossible in such a short amount of time. I highly recommend this product if you have any interest at all in learning a new programming language or just giving yourself another skill because they make it very simple to learn. Disclosure: I received this product for free or on a promotional discount for my honest review and they are 100% my own opinions. However everyone has their own opinion on this product. I did not receive payment other than receiving the product at a discounted rate and I am not required to give a good review. I know how important my reviews are to people who are interested in buying this product, because everyone should be reading reviews before they purchase a product. What I include is what I actually think about the product and my opinion alone. My reviews accurately reflect my views on this product and any 5 star product I would recommend to both my friends and family as well as purchase at full price. This disclosure is in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s Guidelines on Testimony and Advertising. I provide honest reviews that describe the product it entirety both the positive and negatives (if there are any). If my review was helpful to you, would you please vote yes!

Great beginner book but should have covered layout
Format: Kindle
I've done HTML and made an attempt to learn CSS before. This book is a GREAT choice for beginners as well as myself. The examples are pretty easy to follow and made sense. Most of all this was THE book on CSS I was looking for. My previous attempt to learn CSS was overly complicated and convoluted and left me completely confused on CSS and barely able to get the job done. Perhaps it was because it was for the specific software I was using rather than just CSS. Regardless, after this book I feel confident with CSS now and was surprised how easy it actually is when properly explained. My only complaint on this book is that I think it should have covered page layout with parent DIVs and child DIVs or page layout in general. That's definitely the next thing to learn after reading this book. But I was able to easily find a video on page layout after reading the book and took it to the next level. This book prepared me for that and got me to a place where I was ready for that. Hopefully the next version of the book will include page layout techniques to give your website a more professional look. I'm giving it 5 stars because page layout and graphic design really probably are intermediate topics. So, for an HTML and CSS book, this really "hit the spot"!

Easy to follow for a beginner!
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
It’s easy to follow and understand, like putting a puzzle together following step by step instructions eventually feeling more and more confident. You will learn how to build a website starting with HTML. Love the exercises and snippets. If you never used VS code text editor, I suggest watching video on social media about VScode editor if you use this book. VS is a great code editor and it’s free. Pro tip- install live preview from extensions from your explorer pane, it saves time refreshing a browser to see your work and refreshes in real time as you build and style your pages. The book will go into detail about more technical terms as you move through the chapters. I am a student in Front End Web development and everything internet. This book does a good job identifying some of the technical terms of how browsers display HTML documents in a viewport leading up to responsive design. This book is beginner friendly. I don’t think you need any knowledge of HTML, or CSS to start with this book. You don’t need to be an IT technician either, just a simple understanding of how the internet works. You do need to have an interest in learning to code though because it can be a learning curve. Persistence, patience, and lots of practice will make you successful and that’s the payoff. Buy with confidence!

A Solid Book & Place To Start!
Format: Paperback
So far I'm enjoing this book and I do recommend it for beginners and novice programmers alike. It's a sold read and an extremely solid place to start. I knocked off a star because it also does tend to be a little longer than needed.
